Guest
I know I came across a "how to" on the board regarding replacing my passenger window regulator/motor. I just received the part from a fellow board member and am more than ready to get it in place. I have already removed the door panel and drilled out (what a pain) all the rivets/broke 2 bits. Please let me know where to find this and feel free to email me if you have anything to add. mswillywonka@operamail.com
Mendy
86 2dr.ltd
Is your question about the rivets ?
padgett
I never had any difficulty drilling GM window rivets, the hard part is usually knocking the center out first.
Guest Brolliar
I don't remember the "how to" post that you are seeking.

Fastguy posted the item below on 3/30/2001. I agree with his comment.
-----------------------------------
Be careful when you are in there if you remove the motor for any reason. The regulator is spring loaded and WILL shear your fingers off. The new window motor I got came with a warning and instructions on how to bolt it in place while working in there.
The above item is from post: http://www.aaca.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=002456
______________________
Do you have a manual? It has a strong warning concerning removing the motor and shows where to drill a hole in the regulator sector gear and back plate and install a bolt to lock them in place before removing the motor. This keeps the regulator and sector gear from moving, due to the stored energy in the spring, when the motor is removed. The regulator does have some sharp edges. It is also a good idea to wear a long sleeved shirt to protect your arms when removing the regulator and motor from the door.
I can email you some sketches that would help you in your task. You can email me at brolliar@ro.com if you would like them.

Guest
Oh and I didn't knock the center of the rivets out I drilled them out which probably explains the broken bits.
