Guest Dans 77 Limited Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 The World of Wheels custom car show is coming to Pittsburgh this weekend. And they are always looking for club participation. We signed the Pittsburgh Tri-Shields up for this show to represent the BCA. We will have 5 cars set up in a "dealership style" display. In the new & used car sections will be my 77 Limited and one of Dan McCanns ultra rare 82 Grand National Turbos. In the "Service Department" Will be my wifes 67 Skylark and Jim Haneys 57 Super Riviera survivor car. And finally parked out in front of the "Dealership" will be Ted Bunnells 1927 touring sedan. We will also have a table set up with a video loop and applications for the BCA and the Tri-Shields. Im really looking forward to this show. Our chapter has done a lot of shows , regionals , nationals, local shows , but this is the first time we have ever done a World of Wheels show. The only downside to this is there is only one guy in the chapter who has access to a flatbed car hauler to bring the cars in at the beginning and out at the end.......and guess who that is Dan

Without him I doubt it would've made it. The Tri-Shields are a great group that deserves support. Have fun in the Convention Center, Dan! (And don't let any of the street rodders make off with Ted's car! )
Guest Dans 77 Limited Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I guess it does come in handy knowin how to run a tow truck every once in a while .Dan
Guest Dans 77 Limited Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Oh man what a good day we had today. We entered 5 cars in the show down at the convention center. During the awards ceremony tonight all 5 cars won an award. Two of them for 1st place.1st place- Ted Bunnell 1927 Touring car1st place- Dan McCann 1982 Turbo Grand National2nd place- Jim Haney 1957 Super Riviera 4dr hardtop survivor4th place- Sandy Dugan (my better half) 1967 Skylark Custom 2DR hardtop4th place- Me and the Limited. Each of the cars were judged in a different class, so we werent competing against each other. BCA and chapter information practically jumped off the table. we gave away more membership flyers tonight than we have in the whole 6 years Ive belonged to the BCA. We finally got our video display from our spot on the local TV show up and running. Met lots of nice people who seemed really excited about seeing a Buick specific display in the show. Didnt really know there were that many Buick fans in the area .We finished the day with a victory dinner at a local italian restaurant in the strip district. The only thing left now is the club participation award . If we get something there it will be a clean sweep. Pittsburgh Tri-Shields will have come , saw & conqueredI even got my DVD of "American Graffitti" signed by Paul Lemat (Milner}.In the words and music of Travis Tritt." Theres some hard times in the neighborhood but why cant every day be just this good"Dan

A winter car show , 5 out of five winners and a hit for the BCA!!! The only thing missing is some pictures...( hint.hint)JD
Guest Dans 77 Limited Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 They announced the club participation awards tonight before the end of the show. Our display came in 3rd. It truly was a clean sweep we are now 6 for 6. There was a wet blanket thrown on the celebration however. We were informed while at the show today that long time BCA, National Pike /Pittsburgh Tri-Shields member Dave Carlsen had passed away. We send our condolences out to the Carlsen family. Dave was a great guy, a great storyteller and one of the driving forces in our chapter for over 15 years ... He will be missed by all of us here.Im sure he was looking down today and smiling.John we will be downloading pictures and I will put some up this week. Its just that Im the guy who was responsible for the care of 4 out of the 5 cars on display. My family owned 2 of them and I was the transport driver for 2 of the other ones. And just to make it interesting and keep my on my toes, we were hit by a rather nasty frezzing condition just as the show was wrapping up.Doing some curb surfing to get up hills with a few old Buicks on the back, turns the hair just a bit gray . So I dont think Ill be putting up any pictures till later in the week.Im also planning on trying to put something together for Pete & the Bugle. We will see what happens.Dan
JohnD1956 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I'll look forward to the Bugle Story. And the pics too. Meanwhile, relax and have a beer, it's "Miller Time" with all those awards under your belt!NICE WORK!!!JD
Guest Dans 77 Limited Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Thank you .... the beer sounds like a good idea.Dan
