Hupp 31
I have found a 1957 Ford Retractable Hardtop for sale. The car has some rust in the one rocker panel, top of the rear quarter, and a small rust hole in the bottom of one quarter panel. Other than that it looks straight and mostly solid. It is covered with dust and dirt from long term storage (Barn Fresh). The interior, engine and trans are out of the car but come with it. the engine and trans are the same as the originals but the seller doesn't think they are original to the car. The car looks to be almost complete other than a couple of moldings and a broken windshild and rear glass. It has not run for many years but he said the engine would turn over.Does anyone have a guess as to a fair price would be for the car? Thanks for any help on this. Amphicar BUYER
Look in eBay under completed items search to what they are SELLING for not necessarilly what they were asking. Go to the AACA forums, hey wait a minute!? NADA said: Original MSRP: $2,942 Low Retail $15,500 (I would guess yours will fall below this)The options will have a great deal to do with the value too. I am no expert, and I am sure there is somebody who could give you a more accurate number.I have been speaking with a guy since 1996 about a local '59 Skyliner that's been in his front yard since at least 1992. It took him 3 years to answer the door! Last year he let me look inside the car and open the hood. (Tap.tap.tap...) These are #1 or 2 on my dream car list!!
Barry Wolk
Interesting bit of history for you John. The Retractable hardtop was actually designed for the Continental Mark II.
Wowabunga
I sold a very nice 1959 Retractable for a pal of mine... took about a year to find some one who would pay his $30,000 asking price. In other news today in a old bone yard I found what looks to be a 58 or 59 retractable rusting away. I'm headed over to the retractable club to see what parts folks might need of this thing. Lots of 57 Fords in this old yard fyi.
