I have located what I believe to be a 1949 olds and also a 1948 Olds both are 4dr cars.

One of the cars has checkerd flag insignias on both front fenders just below the chrome trim and directly behind both headlights. The same car also has these insignias ih the center of the dash on both sides of the radio. I don't know alot about Olsmobiles and am curious if this car is diferent from other Olds cars.

Checkered flag emblems like that were pretty common aftermarket in those years and were sold thru most all the chain auto parts stores- Pep Boys, Western Auto, J C Whitney (nee Warshawsky). The only carmaker I know of that used them from the factory was Ford. Neat period trim pieces, but I don't think they're factory or that they designate anything special. Just something a previous owner liked. Enjoy them if you like them; if not, remove them.
