Guest Curt Fouse Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I should be able to remember what car used this mascot. I guess I need to ask for help with this one. Thanks Curt
Guest Curt Fouse Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Sorry, I did not see how to add the picture.
Guest Curt Fouse Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 The item I had the question on was a Stutz RA Mascot used from about 1926 to 1935. Sorry I never got the picture online. Curt
K8096 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 That mascot is from 1926 - 1928, starting in 1929 the RA was held on with two small screws from the bottom. This is one of the most reproduced ornaments of all time. I believe the originals were a zinc die casting. If you shake it & hear loose pieces inside, it's possibly an original.
Guest Voogd Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 LS,I've got a specific question. As a historic journalist I am working on a article about an archaeological find. A Stutz Ra radiator cap which was found on the bottom of a filled in canal in the center of Amsterdam (Netherlands). Could you please tell me wether its a cap from the 1926 - 1928 period? Of from the 1929 -1933 period? And could please tell the source of your knowledge? I hope you can help me out. With kind regards.Fanta Voogd - Amsterdam
West Peterson Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Based on the information from K8096 (previous post), it must be from 1926-28.
Guest Voogd Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Thanks for you fast reply. I think your right. But I wanted to be sure. And I would be delighted to know what's the source of K8096's knowledge. (I am working for scientific guys ). Regards, Fanta Voogd
West Peterson Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 K8096 knows these cars very well. I'd say his knowledge is based on experience. Hopefully he'll respond with some more solid evidence for you.Sounds like an interesting archaeological find. One wonders if the rest of the car was buried, too.
Guest Voogd Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Haha. Propably not. This is what happens with (the many) cars that drive into the cannel.
