Guest BobOlds
The '50 shop manual shows AC 46-5 for the V8 as does the Motor Manual. I have no idea what the current equivalent is however.

rocketraider
My 74 parts book shows 1950-64 exc F85 and Jetstar 88 can use AC 46 which is a pretty hot plug, or AC 44- which is not an easy plug to find anymore. The R45, 45S or R45S should be OK for your engine.Do what I do. Scour ebay for old stock ACD plugs.

mlander
BillV Does anyone have a sparkplug chart for 1949/50 Oldsmobiles? I have AC Delco R45S in mineand "assume" they are correct. AC R45S = Resistor by14mm by # 5 heat range by extended core nose.AC R45 = Resistor by 14mm by # 5 heat range. AC 46-5 = 14mm by # 6 heat range by .050" gap AC 46 is the old 14mm by # 6 heat range no resistor or extended core nose.AC 45 is the old 14mm by # 5 heat range no resistor or extended core nose.# 6 heat range is just one heat range hotter than a # 5."R" = Resistor?S? = Extended core nose sparkplug. If you have a radio you will likely need a resistor if you don't have resistor wiring. If you are really interested in the AC sparkplug chart go to this address:http://www.acdelco.com/parts/sparkplugs/identification.jspM.L.
