bigfootbob Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 HAS ANYONE TRIED TO REPLACE THE WOOD WITHOUT BUYING A KIT FOR 300. I BOUGHT SOME WALNUT VENEER AT WOODCRAFT AND WOULD LIKE ANY ADVICE ON TYPE OF GLUE TO USE.
Bill Stoneberg Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I have done veneer work on furniture and I like using a contact cement. You put the contact cement on both pices and let them get tacky. Carefully place the veneer where you want it. You have one chance so slow and careful is the word here. If you mess it up you will be buying new veneer. When it is in place, take a photo roller or wallpaper roller (cheaper) and smooth it out.
BellHorsepower Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 You won't be happy using the contact adhesive,I'm doing my riv using an epoxy which will not be subject to temperature/humidity extremes as I'm in Louisiana. Also you need to back the veneer up with aluminum or lexan unless your using an engineered veneer.
