Grab handels? Straps?

Recommended Posts

I am looking for the grab handles that help out people get out from the rear

seat of 20 -30s cars, but I don't know what the correct name is. Help please!

Thank you.

Roger, as you have no doubt noticed these have taken many forms over the years, from metal "assist handles" to toggle grips. What specific car are you looking for these for, or what form do you want? I'll enclose a photo of the style known as "toggle grips", this particular one being from a 1934 Packard sedan.

Owen, that is the kind of thing that I am looking for, but with

perhaps a loop to place your hand into. I tried to goggle " toggle grips"

but I could find anything listed. Does anyone else have a name for them

to try?

I am going to put them in a 31 Essex, not OEM, but very helpful for

back seat passengers.

Roger,

Some Jewish caskets have rope handles. Go to your local funeral director and ask if he could contact the casket company and see if you could get some of the rope. That is what I did for my 30 Cheverolet. The rope I got was a white and I dyed it black and it looks great.

An older catalog from Lebaron Bonney shows reproduction assist straps for 29-36 Fords at about $38 a pair, several styles. These probably aren't identical to those offered in a 31 Essex but would certainly be "of the era".

assist straps was the name that I was looking for. I bought a nice pair that matches my windlace from Lebaron Bonney for $49.00. Thanks for the help, Mike and Owen.
