DualQwad
I have this molding here that is very close in size and shape as the one on my 65 Buick Wildcat, except this one is bright anodized aluminum (not chromed diecast) and it has eleven mounting studs underneath (intead of only eight). Please take a look at the photo that I have attached.Does anyone recognize this as possibly being for another of the GM division's big cars of the same era?I think that I have just about ruled out Buick, Chevy, or Pontiac.
Oldsfan
1965 Oldsmobile 88?http://www.tocmp.com/brochures/Olds/1965/1965OldsmobileBrochure/olds%20b2.htmlPaul
DualQwad
I was thinking 65-6 Olds too, Paul, but the trunk molding on this car looks shorter than mine and I don't see the curved ends on it. The lower molding underneath on the rear body looks like a closer match, except I think that it is probably longer than the one I have. Does somebody have a 65 Olds that can measure theirs for me to compare?I'll be heading over to the Oldsmobile forum next...Thanks!
John
Any numbers cast in the reverse?John
DualQwad
Nope, no numbers. It's not cast. It is formed aluminim wrapped over some cad plated steel flat stock strips that have threaded studs sticking out of them. I can post another picture of the back side if it will help. TG57Roadmaster
Maybe from a '65 Skylark? How's about measuring LOA and the length of the outer "wings"? I can go from the widths of fullsize vs. intermediates from my 65-66 Automotive News Almanac, which provides widths of all cars for that year.TG
TG57Roadmaster
Looks like Paul & Robert win the Kewpie Doll Prize,The Skylark looks to be 2-piece, but brochure art can be deceiving. The '65 Jetstar I, the poor man's Starfire, has trim above the bumper & below the trunklid, but it looks to be concave. I bet it's the "finisher" between the upper & lower.TG
DualQwad
It is just about 5 ft. long from end to end and about 6 in. from ends to bends.
