For those of you who are interested in these things....I was watching the 1948 movie "Sitting Pretty" with Maureen O'Hara and Robert Young this morning and he was driving a 1941 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan in the movie. I only caught it in the part where he pulls up in his driveway. It may be in other scenes as well but I had to get to work so I didn't see much more.

There was a post in this forum recently which listed a number of movies in which Lincoln Zephyrs (or Continentals) appeared.

If we're thinking about the same movie (In Harms's Way?) the car that goes over the cliff is a '41 Ford Convertible with a "Continental Kit" on the trunk.

Check out http://www.imcdb.org/ for a large list of all kinds of Lincolns in movies.

Robert Young drives a '41 Zephyr sedan in the movie "Sitting Pretty".

Joseph Cotton drives a '41 Zephyr convertible in "The Farmers's Daughter" starring Loretta Young.

William Powell and Myrna Loy drive a '41 Continental convertible across the Golden Gate Bridge amongst a myriad of mundane cars in one of "The Thin Man" movies.

A much modified '41 Continental is featured in the movie "Detour".

A '41 Continental appears in the movie "The Notebook". It's interesting that this movie spans many years, but the Continental never ages! (Speaks to the timeless beauty of the gorgeous '41 Continental).

Jane Wyman wrecks a post war Continental in "Magnificent Obcession".

There are lots more but these come to mind, mostly because I like '41 Lincolns.

Here's the modified '41 Connie from the Film Noir, B-movie, "Detour,"

(1945, starring Tom Neal & Ann Savage). It's grainy and screams "low-budget," but is definitely worth a look-see. This Lincoln steals every scene it's in, and the whole flic is built around it. You'll love the part when they're getting ready to "ditch" the car for some ready cash, 'cause tragic, tubercular "Vera" has her eye on a "fur jacket back in that shop on Hollywood Boulevard."

A girl after my own heart!

Wouldn't it be a kick if the car still existed?

Phil,

They do it all the time in Hollywood. The expensive luxury car, in which the stars are driving over the cliff, suddenly morphs into a gussied up beater on its way down to the ocean/fiery explosion/rock strewn gorge. It's really alot of fun to see how often it happens!

Hey TJ, I wonder if there is any chance that the Connie in that movie was this one I had in 1955? It had a carson top and was mostly de-chromed, and painted gun metal gray? I bought it and lived in LA at the time, Rolf

WHOOPS, I see now that the car in the movie had Postwar rear fenders, all the rage then for some reason, mine didn't, and no one went back to original in those days, fun to speculate anyway, here's another pic of mine-R
