Guest wally888 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 The configuration of the 91 is different than others! Very small space for a wrench. For the 2 nd. time I removed the belt and attempted to remove and replace sender. Evidently I have neither the expertise nor proper wrench for the procedure! Did manage to get pliers on the sender but could not loosen. Suggestions? Who loans tools? There is barely enough wiggle room for small common pliers-not enough for using edge of screw driver to hammer counter clockwise. Could slip a box end-about 1 1/4 " over the sender but a normal wrench length wound not work=not enough room.
padgett Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Our '92 TransPort is the same. I use a deep socket made for the oil sender and a long extension. Only need to get it loose - about a 1/4 turn - can do the rest by hand.
Guest wally888 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 There is only about 1/4 inch clearance at the top, doubt if a box end woud go over the top.
Guest MauiWowee Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I just replaced mine last weekend. Yes, it's tight. After removing the belt and havng the same space issues with my open end wrench, I got the adj. wrench and was able to get a bite by holding the wrench at about a 45 degree angle. I had to turn it over after every quarter inch. It required a lot of patience, and you must also hold your mouth just right.Oh, did I mention that I had to walk away a couple of times? Good luck.
