Guest dwr Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 WHEN I CHANGED MY OIL LAST NIGHT - I NOTICED A PLASTIC BAG WRAPPED AROUND THE OUTER FAN [ THE FAN IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR ] IT HAD LOCKED IT UP - AFTER REMOVING IT - I TRIED TO GET THE FAN TO KICK ON BY RUNNING THE DEFROST AND AIR CONDITIONER - BUT IT WOULD NOT KICK ON - MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN IS OPERATING CORRECTLY? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FRONT FAN?
padgett Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 On an 88-89 you can turn fans on using the touchscream. Enter Service ModeSelect "ECM Overrides"ES07 is fan 1ES08 is fan 2See http://reatta.net/diagnostics/diag_88.pdf
Guest dwr Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I KNOW THAT THE FANS ARE FOR COOLING THE ENGINE - I WAS CURIOUS {TO KNOW ] WHY THERE ARE TWO - WHICH ONE COMES ON FIRST AND HOW ARE THEY SET UP TO COME ON
padgett Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 89-91 both come on at half speed for LO (fan 1) and full speed for HI (fan 2). Dual fans was a heavy duty option on many cars but standard on the Reatta.
Guest alex_houston Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 How do you get to "service Mode" ECM overrides?
Guest F14CRAZY Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 On the Climate page, press and hold OFF and WARMER for Service Mode
