Deer Damage Fix Nightmare

That's what I thought. Anyway, the bodyshop's response was that they will take care of the door module expense. Said they would like to have a look at the mirror to see if it wasn't perhaps caused by the original deer incident, which is possible, in which case they will claim from the insurance company. They will also try to get the window flush with the weatherstrip.
They are not putting up a big fight, but obviously, they're not happy puppies at all. I just know I cannot be sure of not getting screwed until I have the car back in perfect working order without my having to pay for any of this, including the rental I have to use in the meantime.
The lesson to be learned here is that if the insurance company gives one the option of having accident damage repaired by one of their contracted-in "approved service centers", or having the car done independently, take the car to the damn dealer. Nothing is guaranteed, but at least you are working with someone who remotely knows something about Reattas.
Anyway, thanks for the input, Padgett.

Yeah, I bet it took them one week to paint, and six weeks to figure out how everything goes back together. Pity the guys who worked on mine didn't take their time. And my paintjob isn't perfect either. They smudged the pin-stripes, and in places, the new paint is on the rubber trim. Is it just some of us, or is it impossible to get good service ANYWHERE these days without getting ripped off?

What!!!you got pin stripes, I didn't I was tooo afraid frown.gif" border="0shocked.gif" border="0frown.gif" border="0 after what I saw. Got the grinder marks on the black plastic parts also.
Now if you want a perfect paint job I saw one recently on a Cord. I guessed $25,000 and the owner admitted to $28,000 for paint.
shocked.gif" border="0
Still I did not get near what I paid for. Good luck.

This is unbelievable. I take my '89 to a bodyshop to repair a tiny dent, and get it back all messed up.
Three weeks ago, a deer jumped out from the side of the road and ran into my passenger side door. I was going slow, so the only damage to the car was a dent about three inches long and two inches wide, caused by the horns, at the top corner of the divider strip between the passenger side window and the rear window, as well as a few light scratches on the trunk. Nothing major--I was very lucky there.
But it gets worse from here on out. My insurance company sets me up with one of their "approved bodyshops". Five days later they call me to tell me the car is ready. The first time I get into the car, I turn the key to "ON" and the instrument panel goes haywire, and the computer monitor flashes big and small. Not only that, but I can hear an electric motor running - INSIDE the car. Seems they somehow messed up the wiring under the passenger seat(?) when they removed stuff for repainting, and the motor running was that of the power seat, caused by a short somewhere. I also notice a gap between the passenger window and the weather strip, about 1/8th of an inch wide. I point this out to them, and leave the car there for them to fix the problems.
Four days later, they call me to tell me they have fixed the problem. I go to collect the car again - the 2nd time. This time, the instrument panel is back to normal. But the power seats will go up, but not down. I leave the car there again. 20 minutes later, I get a call to tell me the problem has been taken care of. Back I go. Get the car, and by the time I get home, I realize that neither of the automatic door locks work. Not when I get in or out of the car, not when I put it in PARK, not when I use the slider knob, not when I hit the "LOCK/UNLOCK" button, not with the remote. Key only. Also, the first time it rained, the window leaked. Passenger side mirror loose too. I call them to cuss them out, once again. They tell me to take the car to the dealer to look at the problem and to determine whether it was their fault, my fault, or just wear and tear because of old age. Took the car in this morning.
Dealer just called me back to tell me that the "door lock module" is dead. Seems it was shorted out. $380 for replacement (part only). Dealer describes the "door lock module" as the central control module for the door lock system. I had a quick look on Parts.com for a "door lock module" and I can't find anything remotely resembling that description.
Besides that, the mirror is broken on the inside. Replacement of entire unit $280 (part only). Leaking window needs new weatherstrip (not available).
My problem is this: in order for the insurance company/bodyshop to pay for the repairs at the dealer, I need to be able to prove that these problems were caused by the bodyshop.
Does anybody have any advice?
