ratop Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 like the tital said, i'm swiching from the radial tyre on my 54 to bias.. so how do i figure out the conversion in the tire mesurements?
Aanderson44 Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Well, The old, common way is by combining the rim diameter with the width across the inside of the lips of the wheel rim itself: Say, 7.00-15 (7 inches wide, 15" inside diameter of the tire bead).Art Anderson
Centurion Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 ratop, if you have original factory literature for your 1954 model year car, the correct bias ply tire size should be stated. What type of car is it?I also went from radial to bias ply for my '59 Buick, and am delighted by the car's correct stance and appearance. We participate in numerous driving tours with the car, and the performance of the bias ply tires is excellent.
ratop Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 well actually the car's a 54 buick special, but i think sometime along the car's past somebody changed the rim from the original stock size. so i cant really look up in the owners manual, but i'm kinda contemplating on getting a stock set cuz these arn't in amazing condition anyway... oh there's also a conversion chart on corker tire's website that i found that might be kinda helpfull to anyone..so thanks guys, and i guess i'll go ahead and ask if anyone wants to sell me a stock set of steelies for a 54 buick...
Bhigdog Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 If you give Coker Tire a call they have all the info you need and are happy to talk to you.......Bob.
OldsDoug Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Just for grinz, see if this helps... more for changing modern sizes, and it _is_ from the Miata club (blech...) but...http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlCan be quite useful nonetheless...
