Guest
I turn my car off and the what sounds like the defrost still runs and won't shut off even with no key and the engine off. Air is coming out of the defrost vents in the front windshield. I have tried everything from turning everything on and off to starting and stopping the car. What is going on? I had to disconnect the battery.
Barney Eaton
Been there, done that.
Your ECC Power Module (Blower motor control) has gone bad. It so easy to change my grandkids could handle the job.
It is located in the engine compartment. Locate the blower motor and it is on top of that assembly and to the passanger side. There are two connectors pluged into it and three screws to remove.
I got my replacement from one of the Reatta owners with parts cars. The part is the same on some other GM cars but I cannot tell you which ones use it.
16047800 is the part number

Guest
Update and VERY helpful hint. Napa auto carries the part but the part number has been replaced with a new one which I will post. It is the same part. HOWEVER I did make a discovery. If you tell them you have a Buick Reatta and they look up the part, it will cost you 97.00 BUT if you have them look up the same part under a different "less expensive model car" the same part is 55.00. huummm.
ps I still love you BARNEY! Guest
The new part number is
gm#12484912
Its in, and I have no idea why but not only is my blower fixed but now my interior lights all come on again when you pull up on the door handles. Hum. I love my car but it really really freaks me out at times just imagining what the buick dealership would charge me for the tiny things that go wrong that you guys help me fix! Thanks to all of you!
