R W Burgess
It's Christmas time! Time for that important letter from the Publications Committee announcing your chance at the limelight in Philadelphia in February. I know of one letter already received. I'll let that person speak on their own. Anyone else??? Come on. Don't be bashful! Wayne

Guest Moepar
Nope. Won't worry about it either - probably never will come here.
R W Burgess
Dawn, you should always worry about it. Improvement of your publications should come right behind improvement of your children. Why, just yesterday my wife made Mike pull his pants up! "Son, you're not going around this house looking like a bum! Wayne
24T42
Well, I was hoping some other people would post first but I guess everyone has become shy. I was fortunate enough to hear from both the VP of Publications and the VP of Internet. I have received Masters for both the Brass-Nickel Touring Region newsletter and web page. Now, come on folks. I know there are more of you. I can not be the only one that heard something.
Guest Moepar
No children here, unless I can count 3 cats, my husband & his mom. And it is about a full time job! I'm always looking on improving the newsletter, I just don't worry about the contest. To be honest, its not that important to me as I don't really care if I win something or not. The newsletter is not about me but the club. I'm more concerned about the members of our region enjoying the newsletter. Sure, there is a couple of people in the club that worry about the contest - that's the only reason I fill out the paperwork every year & send it in. Frankly, once I stopped being a little annal and worrying about the contest, I did get bumped up to the next level. Bottom line, if I win - I win. If not, oh well. 24T42
With the changing of the rules next year with the adoption of the Newsletter Achievement Awards Program (NAAP), I encourage all editors to take a look at this new program with a fresh eye. I also encourage you to take one of your newsletters from 2006 and see how it scores. I do believe that there is going to a lot of surprised people next year when the Publications Committee announces the result of its yearly evaluations. You might only have to make a few minor changes in your format or content to receive a different award next year - maybe even the Masters. You can find more information about the NAAP in the new Newsletter Editors Manual that is now on-line. Be sure to read Chapters 3 and 4 for some explanations about some of the categories. Chapter 7 is all about the NAAP. R W Burgess
Thank you Judy, and congratulations!Everyone, also please note that a large part of our Publications Seminar in Philadelphia in February will probably be focused on the new Awards Program, and the new updated Editor's Manual. So, make plans to attend if you can. The seminar will be on Friday February 9, 2007, 11:30am until......they run me out of the room!! Wayne

Dynaflash8
The term "contest" is out now. Nobody will be into a "contest" with anybody else next year, only theirself. The levels of achievement are clear. Now lets see if it works any better. The idea has been to try and identify items that will interest, inform and motivate our members to be as active as possible in our hobby. It's more about providing a level of information, than editorial composition and grammatical excellence. We may need to re-introduce some of that through a few more sliding scale scores in the future, but with 140 or more volunteer editor's, they can't all be retired English teachers, writers and reporters of books or for newspapers. If you have articles to interest the members long enough that they will sit down with your newsletter, then while you've got their attention, they are likely to read the valuable information about events coming and gone, things "you auto know" about AACA or your community auto legislation and many more things. Then you've accomplished your aim to provide a valuable service to your Region or Chapter. We hope they will be more motivated to get out and participate more. Guest ChefJenk
Merry Day after Christmas! Good Morning to you Wayne! Queen City Region has recieved their letter from Terry regarding the Web Award, I recieved a Master Webmaster award for our site... I don't think our newsletter recieved any though since I just became aware that the judges had been left off the mailing list all year!!! Oh well at least national got their copies! If anyone has the time to send me critiques on our site I would GREATLY appreciate it. Guest boblove
Tallahassee Region's web site received the Excellence Award (as well as Master Webmaster). I'm really proud of our site as it receives a lot of feedback from our membership (which is really the reason for it's existence!). This is the fourth in a row for us. Now if we could just hear from the "print" team, it will really make my trip to Philly a memorable event. See you all there.

novaman
Finally got some mail since the 20th. I was in Ga. at my sister's place for Christmas. Tried killing the mailman. Today's delivery included held mail which included one package weighting 67lbs!I did find a letter for Master Webmaster for the NC Region site . Nothing for Alamance Region's Coil Wire..bummer . Speaking of that, need to get busy on this month's issue. 24T42
Congratulations - David. I guess I will see you in Philly.OK - we have heard from several web editors. But where are the print editors? Some one must have won a Master's. David - what about Jeanne Soehnlein and the NC Region News? Have you heard from her? Inquiring minds want to know?
R W Burgess
Judy, this may come across as a little blunt, but I'm afraid that not that many editors even read this site, or any part of the web site for that matter. I've had more than one say, "No, I never thought about checking the editor's forum out!" ????? That's very disappointing to me, especially after you and so many others spend hours downloading AACA programs to help out everyone, and very few utilize what we have here. We need to mention this at the seminar this year, or better yet, we'll show it to them and demonstrate how easy it is to use.WayneCongratulations David. Guest ChefJenk
Wayne is the editors seminar only going to be on Friday? Since this will be my first year in attaendance "just a note" it would be great if someone could point me to a schedule? Was there one in the magazine that I missed ? I am stuck at work until Saturday but would love to be in attendance! Thanks,Matt
novaman
I haven't heard anything but would think she'd have it again this year.Hopefully this time to Philly I won't have back problems like this year. Nothing worse than sitting through a seminar with your back killing you. The only relief I had was lying on the bed in my room.
R W Burgess
Matt, the complete schedule hasn't been finished yet. We're set up to follow a Chrysler seminar at 11:30am until 12:45pm on Friday. I intend to hang around through the lunch hour to help out anyone else that wants information. I'd like to be able to work with editors one-on-one in using the web site for informational purposes, newsletter filler, so forth. This web site is a valuable library full of information that so many editors are not taking advantage of. We need to spread the word. Matt, if you don't make it until Saturday, catch up with me around the Web Site booth which should be beside the Young Group again this year. The registration counter can send you in the right direction.Wayne

R W Burgess
Dawn, there won't be any written program, per se. We'll have an outline, and I know for a fact we'll be covering the new Awards Program (NAAP), which is now in the last Rummage Box, on-line. Also, the new Editor's Manual will be covered. You can also read that now on the web site. I'll see if I can take notes and post them after the Philly weekend. Wayne
