Guest 63riviera
Is an Edelbrock Performer a good choice? 600cfm or 750 cfm? Will a 625cfm AFB carter (#9635) fit w/o modifications??And also, I just had he trans coverted to a 700R4. It slips horribly in first gear (needing an extremely high rpm just to get going), shifts erratically, etc. I wish I had my leaking dynafow back. I've never had such a horrible trans. Guest Nailhead1
Who installed your trans, you have to remove the computor parts that went with the trans and convert to normal. Also if your 401 is basic stock a 650 is fine. The formula for CFM is CID x RPM x VE divided by 3456
tim63riv
Stop driving the Riv ASAP! If it is slipping in low, the T.V. cable maybe out of adjustment and if the trans isn't getting the correct line pressure, you will burn it up. The only thing that was computer controlled on the 700R4 was the Torque Converter Clutch, everything else works off of the governor and the T.V. (throttle valve) cable. The 4L60-E is the computer controlled unit.HTH,Tim
