I need a small spur gear for my '32 Dodge window regulator - since I can't

find a replacement assembly I'm trying to fix what I've got. I need a

gear with 8 teeth, 5/8" outside dia., 1/2" long, 1/4" hole in center

and NO hub. Any suggestions?

I've checked a couple of catalogs also and none of them have this

configuration. I found the number for Boston Gear, but couldn't

find the time to call today. It'll have to wait until next week now

before I can contact them. Thanks for your help guys! i'll let you

know what I find out.

That's a difficult thing to do over the phone, and if I recall, Boston Gear won't sell to you directly. Easiest solution is to find a bearing supply house and take it in with you.

Give REMPCO a call

They made a rear axelshaft for my 14 Buick and I am sure they can do this for you. The work they did for me was great and If I need that kind of services again, they will be the first ones I call.

Having no luck so far, I took my spur gear to a local machine shop.

From what they could determine - it's a unique size and cut. They

are going to build the teeth up by TIG welding and hand file it back to

the correct shape and size. Since the teeth in the stamped out regulator

show some lopsided wear, they're going to take it off and turn it around

to give a better fit (like rotating a tire to take advantage of the good

tooth surface). They aren't gong to stop the presses to do this job, so I

won't know for a while how it turns out.

Thanks for all the suggestions.....if this doesn't work, I'll have to take

the gear off the other front door and go looking for a mate.

The machine shop finished my spur gear today....it looks good and

most important IT WORKS!. They built the teeth back up with weld and

hand filed it to the right size. It took a couple of monthss to get

around to it - but they are busy. It cost $45.00 to get it done.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.
