acdeegillnn Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I read your article Joe . I just started using this site . I became a member this year. I have a 56 chev conv. Which I conpletly restored my self . On your dome light . I would check to see if you have power at the bulb with a test light. check the fuse . I believe the dome light works off the headlight switch to, You turn it to the left. It has a little cam on top of the switch that makes it come on .
John348 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Chevy Dome lights are tricky because the ground is the switched conductor. John
Guest imported_49packard Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 If the ground is the switched conductor that makes it easier to trouble shoot. Run a test lead from ground to the light socket-if the light works it is the switch. If it does not then the hot lead is broken somewhere or the fuse is blown.
