hope someone can help me. My wife locked her only set of keys in her 91 coupe. any way to get in short of a locksmith?

Locksmith is the best bet. If you try to go between the glass and weatherstripping you may tear the weatherstripping. A locksmith will be able to do it without damaging anything. Have her go directly to the hardware store and have spare keys made as soon as the locksmith opens it.

I've got this large plastic wedge; sort of looks like a log splitting wedge, but soft plastic, that you pry the top of the door glass away from the frame, then use this plastic covered steel rod bend at just the right angle, to poke down and, either trigger the electric lock button, or pop the manual lever. I broke into, er, entered a locked Caddy recently in 20 seconds...

By any chance is the trunk lid open? I locked my keys in once with the trunk open and found that I could remove one of the rear speakers, pop the cover off, and stick in a broomhandle with some wire on the end to press the unlock button

it hapened to me last summer, called caa but they could not open the door, they broke one of the switches inside the door trying to open it.I took a long metal rigid wire and pushed it betwen the window and rubber strip, pulled the keys out of the ignition and it went out without damaging the rubber.there were only 2 keys on the ring.

I was able to use a long stick with a hook on the end and open the sunroof. Bob

thanks for all the ideas but as luck would have it as the locksmith was on the way I discovered that the wife had put the keys on the headboard and forgot ( again ) where she put them. I need to make several copies and hide them in my dresser drawers for future emergencies

I USED to have a wife who "misplaced", "lost", "locked in", several sets of keys. Saved $$$ in keys the last few years. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

anyone know roughly the cost of keys? does it need to be a key with the little insert thing to work? or can ACO make one

The ignition key with the resistor is goning to cost me $33 from Rinke Buick when I have one made. ACO should be able to make a copy of the door key, unless theres some sort of law or somthing saying that they cant. (had that once with a key)

The Aco hardware I went to completely sucked. Go to Lowes or Home Depot

I think there are around 15 different VAT key resistors used. You can measure the ohms on the resistor using a volt meter. I bought the blanks online from www.clksupplies.com

for $3.25 ea. and had it cut at my local hardware store. Someone also sells them on ebay and explains how to measure the ohms and what key blank# you would need, mine was a #3 I believe.
