I hope that this helps you out in some way. I have the info to break down a vin all the way.

If you have this info already... it might the newer members that could use this info

1...This digit tells us that it was built in the US. (2=canada, 3=mexico)

G...This digit tells us that General Motors is the Manufacture. (F=ford, C=chrysler)

4...This digit tells us the the make is Buick. (1=Chevy, 2=Pontiac, 6= Cadillac)

E...This digit is the base body code. The other cars to share this is the toronado and the riviera.

C...This digit tells us this is a reatta. (rivera=z)

1...This is digit is the body type (2 door coupe/sedan)

3...This digit tells us the restraint system (manual seatbetls with driver side air bag.)

C...This is the engine code 3800 V6 (the only powertrain avalible the the reatta.)

X...This is a check digit. A mathmatical calculation to prevent VIN fraude.

L...This digit tells us the year (88=J, 89=K, 90=L, 91=M)

B...This is the code to where the car was build. Lansing, MI

9...

0...

7...

0...

2...

7...This is the production number. This is the 7027 out of 8515.

I learned this from this website. They can translate most GM vehicles

They cant translate engine codes though.

Since the Reatta was the only vehicle built on the Craft Centre line, the last digits of the vin (90XXXX) are the build sequence. ie a low number would be an early car and a high number a later car.

Look on the driver door...there is a couple of labels, one has tire air pressure and other stuff... at the top it will give you the month and year of build for your Reatta.
