Larrys442 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Just curious what type of fuel and additives people are using in their old muscle cars. I have a '68 442 with a 400. Do you add lead or other boosters? Texas sells blended fuel. Should I be worried about other factors? Valve damage? Carb issues?
Riley77777 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I have a 1960 olds 394 bored out to 407 with forged 11.00:1 pistons. It has a solid lifter camshaft as well. It produces 425+ HP @ 5500 RPM amd 500+ ft. lbs of Torque at 4000RPM. I think premium in 1960 was 100 octane. I currently run Chevron Supreme plus (94) plus NOS Octane Booster which claims to increase octane up to 7 points. I also use Red Line Lead substitute (12 fluid ounzes does 120 gallons). Hope this helps.
