Smartin Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Does anyone have any information on next year's event? This will be my "national," since I will be unable to attend the meet in Seattle. I believe I know WHERE it will be held, but is there any other info other than that?
Guest wildcat62 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hey Adam,Cream City is finishing up the forms and hopefully will have them out soon. Date is going to be August 23-25 in Brookfield, Wisconsin. About 15 minutes out of downtown Milwaukee. It's going to be a low key meet with a focus on getting people together. Couple of fun tours planned and should be a great time. As soon as I hear they have the contract signed and the form ready I'll make sure to hit all the webboards and either Cream City or the Regional Director will make sure to contact all the chapters since it is late notice. You know I've always thought you oughta run a webpage for the Heartland Region, Adam...since you are so good at doing 'em. Not a ton of info, but more to come shortly. Hope that helps!
Smartin Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Kris, I would be happy to host a regional website, but I already am overloaded with what I am responsible for...Gateway chapterBuick Parts DirectoryCenturion Registry and forumsBuick Performance Group website and forumsProfessional Irrigation Systems (my company)No more, please!!Thanks for the response though...I had heard something about Cream City hosting a regional, but wanted to confirm what I had heard.
JohnD1956 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Hey Adam, why can't you make it to Seattle? Just stiring the pot here. Actually Linda and I are planning to go to Seattle and then take our time coming back to hook up with the Great Lakes Regional in Buffalo.Of course, I am also planning to retire the week before leaving for Seattle. I always wanted to make a cross country drive. But the cost of such a thing seem daunting. Still, the West Coast Club members have made several trips to Michigan and if they can do it, I figure I can do it. Today I heard that one of my former co-workers who is just two years older than me died this past weekend. This is hardening my resolve to make the trip out West now, before it becomes something I was always gonna do...and my kids have to do it for me. JD
Guest wildcat62 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Ah, come on Adam...it's only one more...I know what you mean. It seems like Buick folks also have the "can't say no" gene in common and we end up volunteering for a lot more than we ever planned. I believe they are planning to tour an engine plant and brewery along with some cruises. Motors and beer, what else could you want in a meet, right?John, we'd love to see you in Milwaukee too. As soon as all the information is together an invite is going out to the Great Lakes Region since you are so close. The more the merrier!
Centurion Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 John, thanks for your comments about making the trip to Seattle. We really hope that folks who have always wanted to make the drive out West will choose to do so in 2007. Our upcoming ad in the January issue of the "Bugle" is targeted to the BCA members who have dreamed of making just such a trip. The highways to Seattle are filled with national parks, historic landmarks, and the incredible scenery of the American West. It's unlikely that fuel prices will become cheaper during the years ahead, so I'm glad you're looking to make that once-in-a-lifetime journey next year. Based on the early registrations, it looks like we're getting a good response from around the country, and I was excited to see that cars registered from outside of our area or state include a '37 Limited, a '39 Roadmaster 4-door convertible, a '40 Limited Series 80 4-door convertible, a '49 Roadmaster Estate Wagon, etc. Last night, I heard from our chapter director that a rare and majestic '35 Model 96-C will be here from the East Coast, and I received an e-mail about the meet from the owner of a '47 Estate Wagon.Adam, I know that it's tough for you to break away next summer, and you will be missed. I was really hoping for another '71 Centurion coupe!
Guest my3buicks Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 If anyone needs a room for Seattle, I still have yet to cancel mine
JohnD1956 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Hey Wildcat, Does your Regional coincide with the Great Lakes Regional Dates? I don't remember their dates but I thought it sounded like both Regionals were occuring the same weekend? If not, and your's is ahead of Buffalo's, that would make quite the hat trick. John D
Guest imported_Thriller Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Did someone say brewery?I guess I might have to make an extra southern excursion next year. So far, I'm hoping for the Spring Extravaganza (always a bit doubtful with weather and getting cars un-stored in time) and Seattle. I'd be hard-pressed to fit the regional in, considering the Fireball meet in September is always a possibility. Now, if I can only convince a couple of the Buick nuts around here to join me...there's a nice Limited here now too.

I'd consider it if it was in January ...I'll be in San Diego in January this year.
Guest wildcat62 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 John, no unfortunately not. I checked with Roberta and she said you guys are about 2 weeks ahead of the Heartland Regional. Not that we wouldn't still love to have you out. Derek, you'd BETTER come down for the Regional! There's a spot in the parking lot circle with your name on it. Plus, lots of stuff for the family to do. Milwaukee is a really neat town, and I've heard there are a few breweries there. Sure hope to see you at the Spring Show too.
Guest imported_Thriller Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Heck has no fury like that of a woman scorned, eh Kris? One step at a time. This summer I'll be taking the entire summer off work...the kids aren't old enough to leave at home and Suzanne makes a lot more than me, so she can keep working. We'll see if we can make it work out.Isn't it kind of hard to write names on a parking lot when they're covered with snow? I'm not sure how far south the system got, but we wound up with perhaps 10" of snow yesterday. I guess it's winter.
