what color should my 1950 engine be?

I am having difficulty determining what the proper color should be for my 1950 Super Riviera 2 door HT with Dynaflow should be. I get a different answer each time someone tells me the answer. Also, the original brochures that I have collected seem to show different engines with different colors.

My engine appears to be a medium green color. I don't think that this is correct. Some people have said that it should be turqois.

Can someone tell me:

1) Exactly what color should the engine be (where can I get spray cans of the right color stuff).

2) What color should the valve cover decals be (appears to be different for different engines).

The 1950 Super engine (265) was a new engine size and I am wondering if they painted it a different color than the base special engine or the roadmaster engine.

Thanks,

Rebecca

The engine should be a turquoise color. Bob's Automobilia, Bill Hirsch, and also CARS, Inc. both sell the correct stuff in spray cans. They all advertise in the Buick Club magazine. I think your decals should be red, but someone might correct me on that.

Rebecca - Here's a picture of my 1950 Roadmaster engine. It has hydraulic lifters and the decal is red. Hope this helps.

WOW that engine looks nice. Did you keep the 6volt system too? See some of my other post on here to see my 51 buick's engine. Did you turn the air-filter just for the pic or is that the side it orginally pointed(toward the front)?

wow.that looks awesome. I would sure like to see a lot more pictures (close up details) so that I can take note of the way things are supposed to look. Where did you get the paint?

Bobs or Cars has the correct color paint.

But on my last engine I painted, I used the POR 15 Buick colored Engine paint and was real happy with the way it turned out. The POR 15 has a lot more pigment in it and it dries as hard as a rock. It has a few years on it now and still looks brand new.

Its hard to spray because of the amount of pigment in it, but it looks better.

I have used the standard black POR 15 on a floor pan and other similar parts in unexposed areas and I was impressed with how good it could look after just brushing it on. I will talk to my local POR 15 dealer.

It has been converted to 12V, but it is almost unnoticeable (sp?). My digital camera broke a while back so more pictures are not possible at this time. I will look on my PC at work, and if I have more I'll post them. The air cleaner was like that when I bought the car in March of 2000. I never got points taken away at 2 AACA shows I entered the Roadie in. Thanks for the nice comments.
