Guest
does anyone know if the abs system used on other buicks in the same model year is the same teves system on the reatta? what is the proper way to discharge the accumulator before changing it? padgett
a) looks to be the same as used on other GM cars as well (was an option on our '90 Bonneville).
Just pump the brake 25 times with the key off (better after sitting overnight). Believe a T-50 torx fits the top and it just spins off/new spins on like an oil filter.
There is a "thingie" that extends and inch or so up into the accumulator housing so you need to be careful when lifting off the accumulator.
Remember, KEY MUST BE OFF before pumping to relieve pressure. Good idea to wrap a paper towel around base in case all pressure not gone. Also when pressure is relieved, is a good time to check the brake fluid level in resovoir. May look low at other times but is not.
Master cyl. did move quite a bit when I changed mine - what do you hold on to ?
Note: seal is by o-ring, no need to play godzilla when tightening. About like a spark plug felt right.
