grayscot Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'm trying to identify some old family cars from their pics--2 or 3 each. Can you help?<http://picasaweb.google.com/grayscot/>Thank you.
Layden B Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Stude 1 and 2 look to me to be the same car 1915-7 Studebaker 6. They changed very little thru these years. Probably not a 1915 as the rims do not look to be clinchers. 1918 has a much different windshield.Stude 3: The 2 light colored things above the running boards are step plates attached on the running boards, usually cast of aluminum and left bare giving them a light color. They typically have a back flange to keep the passengers toes from marking the splash aprons and that is what you see.
oldford Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Stude3: If you look closely, you'll notice that the wheel bolts are spaced for six lug nuts. The only stude that had six was the Big Six. The Standard and Light Sixes had 5 bolts. The '27 Big Six had the temp guage on the dash, so the moto meter was not needed (unless the inside guage stopped working). My guess is that it's a 26 Big Six 5 passenger sedan.Frank
grayscot Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Sorry Mr. Layden. I'm still getting the hang of Picasa and somehow uploaded the same photos. I've changed now or could include here themissing example. Thanks Frank for the information about the lug nuts and the temperature gauge and 1926 Big Six identification. Sounds good.
grayscot Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Second attachment of 1918(?) Studebaker
