voucher2001
Can any of the members in the Columbia, Maryland area recommend a Buick dealer or independent garage to replace struts and do alignment on a 1990 coupe with 122,000 miles? Guest kennyw
Voucher,
I am about to ruin your day. I bought a set of front struts off of ebay for $42. Talked with the seller and bought the rear for $60-w-shipping. The total for the four to my door was $106. The items,[4], arrived today and are brand new. HE DOES NOT SELL RETAIL, BUT LET ME HAVE THE REAR BECAUSE I BOUGHT OFF OF HIS EBAY AUCTION. You can look on the Reatta page on ebay and there is a set for $60 listed. He also might have the rear. The Reatta is just like any g.m. car of that period and just about any shop can do the install.
I am in Arbutus, about 15 miles from Columbia. Only have a daily driver, no show car..............ken
cpu
Hi Ken,
I think I saw this guy's auctions. Is the seller the guy who must have payment one particular way, and it must be received in 1 day or he causes trouble?
Guest kennyw
carl,
no, that is the [guy] I bought from. had to sign up for [on line payment] to buy the front struts. His web page listed the rear for $11 each but only wholesale. He sells by the container to 40 countrys. He let me have the rear for $60 w/shipping bacause I had won his ebay auction. I don't think he will do this again. Two busy with trailer loads. The other guy sent me emails and said that he garentees his struts to be correct. Still a bargain and he might have the rear. I think I will look for springs also....Ken
pketch
What is the big seal here? Go to Sears. Struts are 45 a piece and the alignment is 50 bucks. If you can do it yourself, any parts store will have them. They are not that uncommon. And to install, that too is not the hardes job you will ever do. Get yourself some spring compressers and do them on the car. Don't go to a dealer. Pep Boys, you've heard of them haven't you? Life time warr. How about Auto zone. got any of them around.
If you need instructions write I'll walk you through it step by step
Guest kennyw
PETER, after the big Sears rip-off on auto repairs no one should buy there. Second, my total price to the door for [4] struts was $106 as stated before. About 1/2 price. That extra funds will buy a lot of beer, or another part for the Reatta.......... I'll take half price any time. It is not how much you make but how you spend it that matters.
pketch
The point was not to go to Sears but that the parts are available. Had you read futher you would have noted that Pepboys and AutoZone were mentioned. It also was mentioned that the job was not that tough to perform. As for you compent about Sears, to this I agree. Maybe you should warn of all dealers that rip unsuspecting persons
TheBlackMoon
Hey there Voucher,
I'm here in Baltimore Md, so call me at 443-570-0965. Know of one trustworthy dealer out in Ellicott City (was recommended by several here some time ago and was the only one here in B'more area that really sounded like they knew what they were dealing with as far as the Reatta goes) and I have a regular Mech who's not only trustworthy, but also very reasonable. He's in the Dundalk area, but well worth the drive.
