harry yarnell Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 For years, whenever I would have a HVAC control (reatta, riviera) problem, I'd go to the salvage yard and harvest another.I've seen tips on this list as to 'clean' the insides. What did that mean? Well, of the pile of controllers (7) I've accumulated, I did some troubleshooting. Simply removing and replacing the two white connectors (inside) that connect the front board with the main chassis board, fixed all the non-functions! No contact cleaner (the contacts 'look' perfect), just excercised the connectors was enough to remove the oxide that prevented contact. So it seems.
Guest jcc3inc Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 One of the things which you can do is to take a pencil eraserand "erasing" the metal surface of the connector. The best connector material is gold, but sometimes it is not used due to cost.Jack C.
