For Sale 1960 Buick Electra 225 Convertible model 4867. White exterior/red leather interior with rare bucket seats. Mileage is approximately 75,000 original. This fabulous automobile runs and drives as good as it looks. It is located in the greater Ocean City, Maryland area. I will have pics available later this week to provide serious buyers via e mail. I am posting here first to hopefully find a good home for this great car. It is a driver, not a trailer queen, but is in very good condition. My Buick expert friends tell me the car is worth somewhere between 40K to 52K. It needs a few items done to it...heater core, speedometer gear, and a few very minor TLC things. I am planning to post on ebay later this week if there is not interest here first. Please give my baby a good home. I am relocating and cannot take the car with me. Serious buyers can contact me via e mail at Tatro@aol.com, or my cell 410-430-2313 EST 9am to 8pm. I love this car, and hate to sell it. I have some NOS parts, manuals, etc. that will accompany the sale, and have given this car great care. e mail me for more questions/etc. offers. ACT FAST!

Sounds neat! I have emailed for more info. With all due respect, I think you'll get much greater interest on this forum by posting a picture and providing a definate asking price.

You mentioned a wide range of possible pricing, so I thought I'd try to be helpful and offer a few of points of reference, to "bracket" things:

1. Hank Deglman's gold 1960 225 convertible is currently on the Hyman Ltd (St.Louis) website. This dealer typically has very high prices and is asking for $58,500 for what appears to be a show quality car. Check out the photos...it looks fantastic! (It recently underwent a serious underhood detailing, by one of the members of this forum, that also included a new heater core ) This is also a bucket seat car, and well over 100K miles.

2. At Meadow Brook RM auction in August, a red "driver" quality 1960 225 convertible SOLD for $28K. I saw the car in person and didn't think it was any bargain. It was, however, a true (original) red car.

3. Within the past year, A red "driver" quality 225 convert sold on ebay for about $15K and later was offered at Duffy's for $30K. I never saw it, and don't know the current status.

4. Near my neighborhood, an elderly gentleman has repeatedly tried to sell his white 60 225 convert for $14K, for about 2yrs. It runs well and has a decent original leather interior, but is very full of bondo. Like yours, it has about 75K original miles. I haven't seen it for about a year. Not sure if he ever sold it.

If you love your 60 Buick, I think you will enjoy my 1960 Buick website. See link below.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for your input and suggestions. To the best of my knowledge, there is NO BONDO on this car. It is very clean and straight, and my local mechanic and his staff alway go nuts when the car comes in for something I can't do myself. It is very clean underneath, shows no signs of any rust through areas, and is very solid. I am by no means an expert as you and our friend Alan are. I will try and upload a few pics. It has been suggested to me that a 40K sale price for this car would be a good buy. I drive it about 100 miles once or twice a month in good weather, and it is kept in a heated garage. I would be thrilled to get your opinion! Since I have owned the car, I have had new u joints installed, exhaust system, rebuilt the starter, generator, new voltage regulator, new top motor, all new brakes(Courtesy Cadillac Dealer,Salisbury, MD) various switches, and the WONDERBAR radio was restored this past summer. I have been fastidious to respect this car and sought out NOS and any expert advice I can get to insure this car was respectful of stock, showroom standards, but, like I said, I am by far not an expert. This car is clean, runs great, and in my opinion, is one of the last of the great "style" of Buicks. I know there are a few things that are not perfect, but, someone is going to get a great car! THANKS for your help with this, it is much appreciated!

OK Greg: If the red 4867 had big white wall tires and 69 Buick hub caps then I know this car. It was origionally white repainted resale red a while back. The original interior looked like the car had an actual 51K and no rust. If I can remember, the seller also clained that the car was excellent mechanically with several important repairs having been completed. All in all a very very nice example. I was offered the car for $14.5 K and the only reason I didn't fly down to Los Angles and drive it home was the fact that my wife wanted her new Accord (which she now has). I normally don't try to persuade her in such matters but I really liked that car. She said no, I have 2 already so next case. Mitch.

Mitch,

Nope, not same red car. The one I refer to "showed" better, but was probably less solid. It was the car owned by collector/dealer Tom Crooks.

I remember the one you described. Like the ones I mentioned, it is captured in my database of over 600 surviving 1960 Buicks.

According to my records, the car you described (with the 69 wheelcovers) was declared "sold" on ebay in 2/06 for $14,400. It had the early red & white interior, and was a California-built car.

It's just as well you didn't buy it...you can only drive one at a time!

OK Greg: I remember that Tom Crook guy. I visited his place called the Car Barn in Concord, Ca. in 1972 when I was going to Cal for the summer. It was pretty interesting and he had all kinds of collector , except they were called junk at the time. Mitch
