Radio plug pins

This is kind of a generic question. The plug/connector that goes into the radio [mine is aftermarket] has quite a number of wires that feed into the connected terminating in small female pins inside the connector. I have been able to remove the wires/pins from the larger connectors using a pin and pulling the wire/pin out of the connector. I cannot seem to do this for the small connector that goes into the radio. Are they removeable? If so, is there a secret to doing so?
