Guest Tammy Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Did anybody figure out who owned the gray convertible with the black top that attended the homecoming? I'm still drooling over that one...was this a after market color combination?
Barney Eaton Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I should be able to tell you the owner, unless it showed up on Saturday, after we departed.White, black, and tan tops were available both years of convertible production. It is unlikely that someone would put a tan top on a grey car but it was probably possible. The black top on a grey bottom would be the most common combination ....however, the grey convertibles are rare ... 37 in 1990 and 5 in 1991.
farnelle Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 There were actually two grey convertibles at the homecoming. One belonged to Bob Neumann and the other to a lady who lived in the Lansing area.
Roadster90 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Mr Farnelle,Can't help but notice the interesting stable of vehicles you have...NICE !
Guest crtnrds Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Barney, I have a burgandy '90 convert with a burgandy top & interior. As far as I know, the top is original. Is this a special order or something? Sorry I haven't gotten the #s etc. to you yet. What address do you prefer I send them to?
Barney Eaton Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 It is unlikely that your top is original. The 1990 Reatta Product Manual showed the available top colors and materials. This is only a start when doing research but we do know the information is often incorrect. The Manual showed WHITE and SADDLE tops available in vinyl but no black vinyl...we know that lots of 1990 convertibles had black vinyl tops. The Manual showed RED, BLUE, and BLACK tops available in cloth. From a judging standpoint, we have been allowing the colors but in reality, we can find only one convertible built with a red or blue top, and they were very early production cars. The RED was more burgundy to match the interior.
Guest crtnrds Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Yes. Mine is a Burgandy cloth top.I'll get you the stats as ASAP.
BillN Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 My Daughter and I drove our recently purchased 1990 dark Gray or Gunmetal Reatta Convertible to the event and parked in the event for a couple of hours on Saturday Afternoon, before we had to leave. Is this the one you are referring to, or one of the silver ones? Ours had a Black Vinyl top, but since the window detached from the fabric, I just replaced it with a gray cloth top, that matches the car.
Guest Tammy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 billn90...If you go to page 5 and look up JWC's post "Reatta Homecoming Early Pics" There is a photo of a gray convertible with a blk top. That is the one I'm talking about. Maybe it is yours??Nice car, I guess I like a gray color. Where did you get your top? Any issues with having it put on? And cost to have it installed please?! I think my next garage sale money will go for a new top.Tammy
RGILL Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 The convert. belongs to Bob Neumann. The other was only at the hotel in the evening.
BillN Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Yes the one in the Homecoming photo is silver as opposed to the darker color on my daughters. I found this one in Pontiac MI in June with 78,000 miles on it. The black top was in overall good condition but the window had separated and since no one could tell me how to reattach it, I opted to purchase a top thru the buickreattaparts.com folks. Took about 6 weeks to get. Made by EZ on of IVA, SC.I had a fellow in Waterford MI who works in a shop behind his house install it. He has done work for GM before. Very talented. He liked the top for installation and the results suit me. I believe you are also in MI, so his contact info is Carl's Auto Interiors in Waterford MI, Phone 248-706-3254. Installation $520.
Rattaboy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Tammy, if you replace your top with a color other than white, wouldn't that compromise the value of your Select 60?
Guest Tammy Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Thank you Billn90, I am in Wis, but it's good to know that it takes 6 weeks. That is where I figured I would get my top from too. I would only replace my top with another white one. Sorry to say that my top is not perfect, though many would leave it alone, I hope to replace it. Seeing how the new ones are cut just a tiny bit bigger and longer is real pleasing to me.
