Guest David H. Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Hello Everyone, I am attempting to locate a person or company that can restore early cardboard wrapped 12 volt Delco coils. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Guest David H. Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 The coil is going on a 1926 vehicle. My assumption is that it was that time period for 12 volt systems. I am really looking for someone who can repair them.
Joe Block Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 No 12 volt back then, try going to motor rewind, rebuilder shop. they might take you coil on for a fun project.
Jan Arnett Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Sorry packard 42 but there were 12 volts back that far. My 23 Dodge is twelve volt but not Delco. I have slipped modern coils inside old cases to make them look right but it is a challange. I have also put C size dry cells in series inside old large dry cell cases to start brass cars. It is not all tha hard if you have the original dry cell cases.
Mark Shaw Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 My 15 Buick has a 6 volt paper wrapped coil, but I don't know if it is any good. I ran it with a 6 volt modern coil and would love to find a way to make a modern 6 volt coil look like the original. My 29 Buick is also 6 volt but does not have a paper wrapped coil.
