Guest BigKev Posted October 29, 2006 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Does anyone have a NAPA, Autozone, Kragen, etc part number for a filter element and bowl gasket for this Carter Fuel filter that is on my '54. See attached pic for reference. This is after I cleaned it up with a wire wheel and scoured the crud out of the bowl. The bowl looked like someone had spray painted the inside brown it was so caked with varnish. On the right in that picture is all that was left of the filter element. Based on the amount of varnish and crud. I will probably need to rebuild the carb.I did manage to replace the heat riser thermostat spring this weekend and get a few other parts cleaned up and repained. (pronounced Asss-uh-tone) <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />You may be able to get just the filter element replacement. You may want to leave it like that and just use it as a sediment bowl, since I assume you will be adding another filter between the electric fuel pump and the gas tank? BTW, Did you know that we have an automatic Censor on this Forum? It wouldn't let me spell the word Asss (even tho there was a - after it), with just 2 Ss so I had to change it to 3. Just there was nothing left of the Filter Element, and the gasket was in pieces. The funny thing is that it still had a little fuel in the bowl after all this time. I can only imagine what gunk must me in the Carb bowl.And yes I will also put an inline filter back at the tank before the electric prime pump. I just want to get the original filter back into shape also with a new gasket and new element. So if anyone has a part # for those please let me know. It has a ceramic element and a special gasket. The gasket looks like the attachment. I was hoping to find something at Napa, Kragen, etc. I wonder if I take the housing and bowl into napa if they can find something that would fit. But maybe out closer to where that fire is burning they may have one of those kind of shops. I will probably end up ordering one online. I might just take the assembly in to Napa and talk to one of the old timers there and see if there have anything in there catalogs.Thanks for all the suggestions. Twitch Posted October 31, 2006 Share Posted October 31, 2006 I got one at NAPA for my 50. The glass housing looks like a duplicate to me. anyhow its # 3034. But as luck would have it I found this NOS filter on ebay that is extactly the same as mine. It arrived todau and the only difference is the red color.
