ray_morey Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Can anyone tell me where to get a harmonic balancer for a 1956 Olds 324 Ci engine? Also what other GM engines use the same harmonic balancer? Can someone look it up in a old Hollinder interchange manuel? Your help is appreciated.
rocketraider Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Ray, if you have one, it can be rebuilt. If it's missing, I DK excatly what years interchange but I'd imagine 54-56.
Bhigdog Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 324 engines are internally balanced so the balancer must be balance neutral. A 371 balancer will fit perfectly but it is externally balanced with an off center weight. It will shake like crazy. I know this for a fact. Not sure about 303's.If you have a balancer Damper Doctor can rebuild it for about $125. They can also sell you one outright with a core charge. I can reccomend them........Bob.
Guest BobOlds Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 303 is the same deal as the 324. Really just a pulley and not a balancer.
