West Peterson Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 At Hershey this year, while standing next to the 1934 Ford Vicky with Jumbo Balloon wheels and tires, I heard a couple of guys talking about how they have just recently been accepted as permissible in AACA judging. Does anyone have any knowledge about this. (Or were they possibly talking about being permissible in the Early Ford V8 club). Are they permissible in AACA judging? Or did this owner get docked some points? See attached photo (Wayne Burgess photo)
Shop Rat Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 West, According to an article in the July/August 2006 <span style="font-style: italic">Antique Automobile</span> (you know that magazine, right? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />) the person that will have that answer is Randy Stone, VP of Technical Matters. He is the guy that researches what tires are allowable if a correct tire cannot be found.
West Peterson Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 Randy is out of his office. I'm trying to find out if anyone on the Forum knows any specific information on this car, and weather the owner was docked points for the accessory or not. It seemed like a pretty high-point car.
Shop Rat Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Darn, just when you needed him he's gone.Hope someone else can help.
novaman Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 At least he left the slow car at home during the tour. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Roger_Orness Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I recently acquired a set of 16 inch wire wheels that are 4.5 inches wide (5.75 overall) and was wondering what was the original tire size in the early 30's and the comparable size available today.Roger
Dougsclassic Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Roger,I have two more of those wheels and they are in very nice condition. You can see them on my blog post Kelsey Hayes Bent Spoke 40 Spoke Wire Wheels | Resto Rods To Go
