BUICK RACER Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 All I can say is "Go Tigers" cause it is an awesome time for Michigan and Detroit, Lions beat the Bills, hopefully beat the Jets this weekend, Red Wings will win, Michigan crashed Iowa, But I think I need a Ohio State Shirt!

Guest BJM Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Ouch.I'm an Iowa fan and a Cardinals fan. Not happy about the first score. Happier about the 2nd one.
Bill Stoneberg Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Anyone but the Cards...... Go Detroit....
Guest BJM Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Sorry about those Astros Bill...
Guest norb Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 The Tigers did not even come out of their den last night
Dave@Moon Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Go Pirates!Oh, this is Major League Baseball. Sorry. There was a time when I knew every stat and followed the Pirates like a religion. I loved baseball. Now the owners spend November figuring out if they can win the World Series and make a profit, or improve their profit by winning (or by not winning), and then go out and hire the people to fill the uniforms accordingly. What's the accomplishment? In 2006 the average Cardinal or Tiger made twice the salary of the average Pirate, six times the average salary of the average Marlin. ([color:"blue"]BTW The Marlins and the Pirates are both former World Series champions/contenders managed by Jim Leyland. Ask him what happens when your boss can't afford your players any more, or look at Florida's and Pittsburgh's records of late. Detroit's future? )The Yankees won the '97 World Series with a team of which one third was acquired after that year's All Star Break at a cost that was insane. That year there were ten players in MLB who's individual salary was higher than the entire payroll of the Pittsburgh Pirates, totalled down to and including the team's office & maintenance staffs! I've been a hockey and football fan who spends his summers following NASCAR ever since.
mrpushbutton Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 my uncle was the catcher for the 1960 Pirates, he hit the second-to-last home run in that year's world series. I think he made about $35K that year, and we thought that was all the money in the world!. Being a life-long Detroit area resident, this is a big thing here, and a boost to the morale of a city and region that sorely needs it!GO TIGERS!
