Towing a trailer

Recommended Posts

Uhaul is xzsh... go to a trailer place. Problably a Lebaron GTS hitch would work. Mopar voided the warranty for trailer towing. As with any car, it should be in great shape. 1,000 should be max weight. The hitch frames are bolted to the floor pan. Some Turbododge owners have towed other cars of equal weight.

Some turbo minivans owners regularly tow with them. The problems is the automatic transmission, and the internal engine temps getting too high under highway conditions.

One owner with an egt gauge has noted an increase in egt (exhaust gas temperature) from 1,200 degrees to 1,600 degrees. This is piston melting temps with the standard pistons.

no actualy, these cars dont have any real place to attach a hitch so the do go into the floor pan area.i wouldnt put one one, i took one off a daytona, that was the stupidest place to mount on, probably would have ripped the back off the car, was rated for 500lbs

I had one on my 95 Neon sport with no problems. I carefully towed 1,500 lbs of sand for a patio base with no problems. I currently have one on an 04 Sebring. I towed home a frontloader for my massey ferguson garden tractor through the Tennesee and Kentucky hills with no problems. If they are designed and installed properly they are good. As for the trailer, don't get the foldup storeaway design. You can get a real trailer for $450 it you check the right places. 15" tires and good steel frames.

Saw my dentist today. Again. He laughed about the comments. He is stranger than I am. Hi doc.

Late to thread but is this a turbocharged TC? the reason Chrysler didn't allow towing on the turbo cars is that they stay in boost when there is sufficient load on the motor. When accelerating you use the higher boost for what, 30 seconds max, towing a trailer heavy enough you'd be in boost for many many miles... That said a 500 pound trailer would be fine I should think. I have a class III hitch on my turbo Rampage and have pulled a 1100lb trailer with a 2400 lb Dodge on it. I cranked the manual boost controller down to 6psi to keep egt's down though.
