Brake Clicking

Just to let you know ahead of time I have not done anything with the brakes yet. When I started my car this afternoon to check everything out I noticed that when I pressed my brakes all the way I hear four clicks just before my red brake light comes on. Not quite at the same time but very very close. This all happens with about 1-1.5 seconds. My pedal doesn't go straight down easy, it is a little stiff. I can't tell if this is normal or not because it is about as stiff as my dad's dodge diesel truck, but harder then any of the other cars my mom or dad owns. is this clicking normal? And is my brake pedal acting normal? I know that the lights are not supposed to light up and I'm hoping a flush will fix that <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />.
