We are heading out Tuesday morning also and leaving on Sunday. I have been retired for four years and Bill for three and a half years. It is great. For us, when Mom became so ill, it was the biggest blessing to be able to be on call no matter what without having to worry about our jobs.

May you have many years in good health to enjoy your retirement. And lots of cars to enjoy. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Susan. Just so you know, I didn't quit my day job, but effective tomorrow, I will be retired from the Army. No more trips to the sand, no more Iraq, Afghanistan, or putting my wife and parents through hell anymore.

After 21 years of service, a Bronze Star, and making it all the way to E-8, this soldier is retired. I've worn that uniform ever since I was old enough for them to let me wear it, and now it's over. It wasn't an easy decision, but it's time to do something different.

I wasn't sure which one you had retired from since there was a chance you could get deployed again and miss Hershey. I am sure that your wife and parents are relieved that you will no longer face being put in harm's way in the service. But your willingness to service is to be commended.

Have a safe trip to Hershey.

Yes they are. So much to the point where my mom teared up when I told her that I retired. I've been doing that since I was old enough to get in, and I'd never gotten out. I've spent over half my life doing that, and it won't be easy, but it takes a big load off of them.
