Aussie26Stude Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I am currently restoring a 1926 Studebaker and am about to start the wiring for it. On the wiring drawing there shows a brake light switch which somehow attaches to the X-member at the rear of the frame.Could anyone tell me what this "switch" is and where I would be able to buy one?
oldford Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 My 27 had a pull type switch that was connected to the brake rods through a cable and spring. It was a momentary switch that released when the brake pedal was released. It was mounted on one of the cross members in front of the rear wheels. That switch will be hard to find. I think chevrolet used a similar switch in the mid 20's, but you can get the brake switch from a 70's Harley sportster that is also a pull type. It looks different, but will work just fine.Frank
Guest Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Pontiacs 29-32 had a similar switch. There have been several advertised on ebay lately. I bought a spare one for $8.00.
