DeeBee Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 ANything I can check when I get to Southern California? I'll be there 5-7 days at a relatives home. Got a trunk full of tools and will have some time.I'd rather not get into motor pulling but some routine stuff while there is possible. Any suggestions I can look at without worrying about putting it back and still making it home?I've got new plugs and wires. New air cleaner. Motor runs very smoooth just off idle and up, only a rough idle.I get 30 mpg at freeway speeds, 32-34 at 55 mph on the flats. Acceleration is good and engine purrs at any speed other than idle.TIA
Roadster90 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 More than likely a dirty IAC....use a phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws (carefully...they can fall easily and they are stainless and not magnetic >>> put a rag underneath them), pull the IAC, and clean with a rag and a can of carb cleaner (clean both the IAC and the cavity it goes in). IAC beneath and behind the MAF. After cleaning the engine will race a little (a few blocks of driving maybe) until the IAC resets and then normal idle should return
Guest F14CRAZY Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Have you cleaned the IAC and the passages lately? Been a while since I worked on a real LN3 This link to Padgett's site has a nice explaination. Not too hard to do.
