Is There A Doctor In The House Please? HELP!

The right side white turn signal marker light (#890 bulb) has never worked on my coupe (this is the light bulb/socket that is a "marker"...comes on a solid white when the turn signal is flashing). I acquired a used harness (1990...short harness from the light assembly to the frame where it gang plugs into another harness)to hopefully fix the problem. The amber flashing #890 bulb or flashing light operates fine.

I removed the light assembly yesterday and checked for current from the original harness with a test light and there was no current. I replaced the harness with the used one, and there was no current. The problem is above or before the immediate assembly harness.

I do not know or have the slightest idea how to read a wiring diagram. Can some one please offer some suggestions or some areas to check for open circuits and or loose gang plugs.

When you check for voltage at the socket,

did you have one lead of the voltmeter on body ground?

And did you check both terminals in the socket.

Remember the fender is plastic, use the metal of the

bumper for ground.

A bad ground will stop the bulb from working even with the

positive voltage at one side of the socket.

There is a relay that switches the light from a parking light to a turn light.

the relay is located under the hood and should be marked. Try switching the right and left relay and the problem will probably follow the relay change.

If it does, replace the bad relay

Relay/s were not the resolution.....

I went out and inspected tonight...I could not find a specific marker light relay in the relay case, but did see the flasher relays....I did exchange those two relays/flashers....I was aware of these actual "turn signal" relays that Barney is refering to... switching these relays did not accomplish anything...

The problem area or the light that I am refering to is the "white marker light". This is the white or clear light that comes on and stays on solid while the amber turn signal light is flashing. This IS the #890 bulb that is the 2nd bulb from the rear of the car .... NOT the #890 that is about the 4th bulb back and encased in the amber globe (flashing turn signal).

Nic?

I assume the left path light works ? Those should not light up during the day. The photo cell prevents them from lighting when the cell detects daylight, at least that is how a 91 works? KennyV.

Hmmmmmmmm. In my first post I stated the right light was the where the trouble was....I am sorry...goofed....left one is the problem.

Kenny, yes the right light or light path is working and woring during the day....I have no idea about the '91 and the photo sell thingie?????????

Recently, Vincent Vega and I removed the headlamp controller from the left front corner of the inner fender. This may be a revelant part, considering the photocell runs the side lights.

Barney may know if this unit is part of the circuit.

Next, look over the turn signal switch, on the steering column. This controls all the signals, and the markers. I've seen wierd things happen, over the years, when these switches get corroded, broken, or mis-aligned.

Good Luck, Nic!

Randy, thanks for the reply....the light in question here is activated by the turn signals....I don't think the photo cell is revelent (maybe also a year model applicable ... this is a '90)

This is the white side light or marker light...is a 890 bulb but not in a orange socket like the turn signal bulb. I am not getting current to the sub harness under the fender. I would think it would be in a harness somewhere between the switch and the sub harness.... I just don't know how to read a diagram/schematic (or how to spell it for that matter:))and need to know where the junctions or gang plugs are? The switch operates the other side fine so I really think it is in the wiring.

Still need some help here please.....

Thanks for the reply Javy. I did learn one thing from your reply....the light I am refering to is NOT called a marker light...BUT A "CORNERING LIGHT" (found this on the 2nd diagram). I made a copy of both of the daigrams but the problem of not "reading or following" a diagram or schematic STILL remains....still totally confused I guess .

If I had 1/2 as many replies as mine....well, I might be in better shape
