BillyJ Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Buick Mike's tutorial on changing front lamps is well done. I have a question about lamp colors though. It appears that the 3 lamps under the headlights are 194. The one on the corner (turn signal) is a GE890. Then another 194 followed by the sixth lamp which is a GE890. What color should these various lamps be? Are some white and some yellow? Which are which? Thanks.BJ
Guest F14CRAZY Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 According to my knowledge, all of the 194s are yellow. The 890 is halogen, so it's natural.
Guest EDBS0 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I think that you will find that Buick flows a small trickle current through the 890 cornering lamp so it glows yellow to match the other 194s and goes full bright when turning.
Vincent Vega Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 All the 194's should be 194na's. Amber in color. The Halogen bulbs are all white. The one one the corner is the turn signal. It should glow amber because of an amber globe in the turn signal housing. The side halogen bulb is the only one that glows white. The amber globes are no longer available. This post explains how to repair the globe.
BillyJ Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Thanks folks. Great information as usual.BJ
