Guest Randy_G Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I found a Packard today, I was going to Paris, ,,,,, Texas when I saw a 51 bullet nose Studebaker sitting in a guys yard. I didnt have time to stop when I first passed but on the way back I stopped in to see what he wanted for the car. As I approached the car in the back of the makeshift car lot Under a leanto shed was 1952 Packard 4 Dr. I got a bit excited until the gentleman told me that the straight 8 had given up the task of moving the car some years ago and some moron had replaced it and the Ultramatic Transmission with a Bowtie 350/350 combination. I went over and checked her out a little rust in the floor pans all the stainless is there and couple of minor dents. all the glass appeared in tack and yes right under the hood was a smallblock Chevy. I had to walk away. Needless to say I didnt buy the Stude or Packrolet. But my search continues.Randy_G
Guest imported_Speedster Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Randy_G, If you are looking for a bathtub body style, then here is a good '50 restoration project, up in Amarillo, Tx. You could probably go get that one with a U-haul trailer. Finding an unrestored Packard, with most of it's Parts and little Rust, is Very Rare here in Texas. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1950-Pack...1QQcmdZViewItem
Guest Randy_G Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I saw that Packard the other day on E-bay, it sold for more than I was wanting to pay for a car I had to completely restore. It was a very good canidate though. I'll keep looking.Randy_G
Twitch Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 The Studes of that era are certainly priced reasonably. Shhh! If I had the space I'd buy the 1st nice one I saw.
