Given a 54 Ford 239v8 with a 56 4brl intake/Edelbrock 500cfm carb.Problem is full vacuum advance with stock distributor will not work.Excessive advance at idle stalls engine.Cannot find an alternate distributor from any manufacturer for this engine.Will a 56 Ford distributor[dual diaphram for use with 4brl] or a 57 work? Suggestions? Thanks for any help. Dom. Note: Runs on timed vacuum but i would prefer full vacuum which i believe would be better.

I had the same problem and moditied the vacum advance to limit the

advance curve, where is your vacum line connected, it should be at the port

just above the throttle valves?
