Such a nice looking Zephyr on Ebay. Why can't we see more of these fine vehicles in this shape??

You must mean ebay Item number: 320027830627. This has got to be the same car that is STILL advertised in the LZOC "Pre-War Cars for sale" section for $25k. Now he apparently thinks he can get $35k on ebay. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. There have been quite a few very nice looking Zephyrs on ebay recently. Sadly, most of them don't meet their reserve. Apparently most of the folks that look at Zephyrs on ebay are just that - LOOKERS (like me) and not buyers. The ones that DO bid and sometimes buy, usually pay too much for junk and not enough for really nice cars. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

It looks very clean. Its nice to see a Zephyr untouched in that color combo 35K doesn't seem to be that high for that nice of a car.

It's the same one, no doubt. I like the description, "it has only needed one repaint in it's whole existance". Maybe it's only been painted once, but it's nowhere close to original or restored to original. Maybe a good driver for a bunch less, not even for $25K. E-bay is funny though, sometimes the buyer scores big, sometimes it's the seller. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. There was a '48 2 door on there a while back, a survivor for the most part, lots of extra parts, and it didn't sell. I don't know if maybe it was reserved really high, but I'd sooner start with one in that condition than one all done with the wrong everything.

The only thing wrong is the paint. Its one of the nicer ones I've seen. Interior looks all original. Its hard to find one thats not all rusted up chopped up or has a 350 in it just for that alone should justify the price. I saw one on cars on line thats was hot rodded out and he wanted 42K which i thought was a little ridiculous.

This car HAS been "molested", but not as bad as some I've seen.

The inner front fender panels should be body color. The engine should NOT be blue. The block should be dark green and the heads should be aluminum. The car has an alternator which probably means that the electrical system has been converted to 12 volts as evidenced by the two separate ignition coils instead of the original coil. The radiator hoses are incorrect, as is the fuel pump, and the wiring is a mess.

The interior in this car is not original. It looks like a velour material, which is incorrect for ANY Lincoln. Check out the attached photo of a '40 Zephyr interior which looks pretty correct to me.

Having been in a museum for 20 years is NOT an asset! Museum cars are "restored" to look pretty but can have significant mechanical problems. Possibly from 20 years of not being exercised, or inadequate mechanical "restoration" in the first place.

Phil..........The photo you posted in your last response. What color is the Zephyr? I just picked up a 41 LZ Sedan and am trying to determine the body color so I can have it repainted in original colors. I think mine is Zephyr Blue but am not positive.

That car is a black '40 sedan. It looks like dark blue in the photo I posted to show the correct seat and door panel configuration, but the car is black. It's a photo I picked up off the net as an example of a very nice '40 Zephyr. I think the car was for sale a couple of years ago. It had black California license plates on it. Zephyr blue is the darkest of the three (I think) blue colors offered in 1941.

Every now and then,paint chips show up on ebay. I got a couple of them but I don't think the colors are true after laying around for 60 + years. I am planning on painting my '41 Zephyr convertible project car Darian Blue. I got a correct current paint chip from Color-Ite. They are in the LZOC directory.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to go the colorite route. I talked to the previous owner and he did not know either. I compared the color to the cover of the TWOTZ and they are similar in appearence and the first issue of this year said the color represented Darien Blue for 1941. If I knew how I'd post a photo of the car on this forum to get some opinions.
