Riley77777 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I have a solid lifter cam in a 1960 394 oldsmobile. The lash setting is to be .018What valves can be set when what cylinder is at top dead center? For example, when cylinder 1 is at top dead center, which valves can be set?Appreciate your time and assistance. Thanks
RocketDude Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 that information should be listed in your Motors Manual, but don't look under Olds, because Olds didn'y come with adjustable arms. Look under chevy, or some GM V8. Here is information on a Pontiac. Sameo Sameohttp://www.pontiacstreetperformance.com/psp/rockers.html It shows which rockers to adjust in what order.....
Riley77777 Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Thanks for your assistance. I'm not sure where to look - motors manual???? Not in 54 or 60 olds manual. Can find for chevy but different sequence for sure.
RocketDude Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 You're correct. Olds firing order was different than a chevy, on the early engines before 1967. After 1967 they were the same firing order. Here is how to adjust valves one at a time. This method doesn't depend on the firing order.Sorry about the previous answer. I promice never again to answer a question after the second beer..! good luck...http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Instructions/Files/250.pdf
