wfgc Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Anyone know where I might purchase one or a company that does the work. I live in Canada.
Guest imported_MrEarl Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Sounds like you're gettin that wagon ready for me <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />ABS Power Brake has rebuilt two of my 54 Rdmstr "boosters" and have done a good job. Left off the original "do not undercoat this brake unit" tag on one but sent me another. I recommend them. They are in California at 714-771-6549. Ask to speak with Eddy. In fact I just spoke with him about whether or not I should have the booster on Buttercup rebuilt considering she has very low mileage and I was considering taking her on a long trip. He recommened not waking a sleeping dog or something to that effect. But anyway try and talk to him and let him know what you need. Good luck.
Guest imported_MrEarl Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 And by the way I think they still do the work for around $350.
progoofoff Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 These guys do a very good job.Last one I had rebuilt (about a year ago) was around $250.Power Brake Exchange, Inc. 260 Phelan Ave, San Jose, CA 95112. 1-800-322-1775
Bhigdog Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 And another choice. Ed Strain. Pinellas Park, Florida. 800-266-1623. $200 was the last price I paid about 6 months ago.......Bob
Guest imported_MrEarl Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Bob and Bob, were those for 54's. I shopped around a good bit before I sent mine to ABS and the 53-54's were always higher than other if the did them at all. I'll definitley be getting in touch with Ed to see if he does 54's. At that price I could afford to put one in the trunk as a spare on a long trip.
Guest kevinshea Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 lamar -- check with Ed, BUT. when I talked to him, he wasn't doing them for us. Told me how so I rebuilt my own... upon disassembly I found that the rubbers and the felt in mine were in good shape.. (until, I screwed up one seal -- drat!!)
Bhigdog Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Oops, No they were for 2 55's and a 57. Never mind, my bad.......Bob
wfgc Posted September 21, 2006 Author Posted September 21, 2006 Thanks guys for all your help. Much appreciated.wfgc [Frank Christian]
Guest imported_Thriller Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Frank - is yours the Model 69 in Winnipeg? I remember seeing it in Flint, but have not yet seen it locally. If you'd like to chat, let me know...my new Buickful garage will be done soon (or at least buttoned up) so I'll have two of my cars here and in the spring will bring in a third to get to work on it. If you'd like to come by and take a look, you are welcome - it's easy to make coffee or tea and there is often beer and always wine in the house.
