Guest imported_blazer1997 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 When I start my reatta both red, and yellow light come on, and then go off. Sometimes while driving both light appear again. Checked the motor and it is running, and shuts off after long time. Crt displays low brake pressure. Brake fluid was flushed last year.Checked the pressure switch connection and had some moisture, and cleaned but same.I have a extra pressure switch but not able to find the correct wrench? Ordered a 35mm still to small. Any suggestions on what to use to remove the pressure switch? and is this my problem? Thanks
shoreice Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Barney told me to use a 36mm thin wall socket on the pressure switch. The trouble is, no one seems to make one. I'll take an impact socket and turn it down in the lathe when i need one.Good luck, I've no idea if this is your problem or not.sorry. Kenny
Howard Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Have you done the brake test on www.reatta.net? I'm leaning more to a bad accumulator, than a pressure switch. The reason I say that is the lights comes on when you step on the brake. Also you hear the motor running a long time. Just a thought. Be sure to check out the brake test.
padgett Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Agree, sounds like an accumulator. Pump runs a long time because must fill entire ball and since no accumulator, pressure drops fast. Yellow light (ABS off) come on anytime the presuure drops enough to turn red light on.
Guest imported_blazer1997 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Replace the accumulator again? Less then 2 yrs ago i replace it with a new one. You guys are right seems to loose pressure over night when i first start it up in the morning both lights stay on for about 2 minutes. Also found the correct tool for revoming the pressure switch. j-37117 for $58.99www.etoolcart.com
Guest imported_blazer1997 Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Today replaced the accumulator same problem. Replaced the brake pressure switch same problem then I noticed the motor would only run if you hit it on the side, and then stop. After replacing the motor both light are out, and good brakes after all air was out of the system. Thanks for all the info.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Can it be explained how the pump motor was replaced with or without removing teves system?
Rawja Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 The motor/pressure switch assembly is very easy to remove without removing the whole Teves unit. Did it myself a couple of months ago. Less than an hour start to finish.Detailed in the Factory Shop Manual.
