Guest
Just purchased a 56k 90 coupe with a leakey front seal on compressor. Got an out the door price of $695 for new GM compressor and conversion. I discussed my concerns and he assured me they do it all! new dryer, fittings, orifices?etc. I recently had my other 90 done and have no complaints. The leak is there, I watched him test, is a stop leak/freon combo an option temp. while I investigate conversion? A recent post mentioned a NEW r12 dropin about to hit the market. Anybody know of that product? And last, what about "collectibility value" if converted?
padgett
The "drop in" is R-406A. See http://yarchive.net/ac/r406a.html
- have not tried but sounds good.
Guest
The front seal costs $10-$15. There are places where you can rent the seal remover/installer tool. Recharge the system with old R12 for approximately $200. You can save yourself hundreds of dollars if you do it yourself.
